What are Deliverables, Measures, and Activities?
Euna Grants uses three levels to track grant progress:
-
Deliverables — What must be completed
Tangible outputs, milestones, and expected completion date. -
Measures — How progress is tracked
Metrics and indicators used to monitor progress toward deliverables. -
Activities — The actual work reported
A record of work completed, or progress made against a measure.
Deliverables
Deliverables are specific outcomes that must be completed by a deadline. Key fields include:
- Name — What must be delivered
- Description — Context or specifications
- Due Date — When it's due
- Completion Status — Marked complete or incomplete
Example: "Submit Final Program Guide by Close Out"
Deliverables can be linked to measures. When linked, they automatically calculate progress from those measures. When not linked, they show 0% progress until manually marked complete.
Measures
Measures are quantifiable indicators that track progress toward a deliverable. There are three types:
- Milestone — Binary yes/no tracking. Example: "Program Guide submitted"
- Number — Counts toward a target. Example: "Train 50 staff members"
- Percent — Shows percentage of target achieved. Example: "Serve 80% of target population"
Key fields include:
- Name — What the measure tracks
- Type — Milestone, Number, or Percent
- Target — The goal amount
- Target Date — The goal completion date
Activities
Activities are reports of actual work completed against a measure. Key fields include:
- Reporting Period — When the work occurred and the Activity End Date
- Number Complete — How much work was accomplished
- Description — Description of the work
- Attachments — Supporting documentation (optional)
Example: "Trained 15 staff in Q1"
How It Works Together
Activities flow upward automatically:
Activities (real work) → Measures (progress tracking) → Deliverables (completion status)
Example:
- Activity 1: Trained 15 staff in Q1
- Activity 2: Trained 20 staff in Q2
- Activity 3: Trained 12 staff in Q3
- Total: 47 of 50 = 94% progress toward measure target
A deliverable can link to one or more measures. When measures are linked, deliverable progress is calculated automatically from the measures. When all linked measures are complete, the deliverable shows 100% complete.
