Financial Essentials: Direct Cost Calculations

Direct cost calculations allow you to apply standard formulas to budget line items in Euna Grants. Using direct cost calculations can help you provide funders with clearer insight into projected program expenses, offer a flexible alternative to indirect cost setups, and improve detailed budget tracking.

Note: Direct cost calculations can only be applied when enabled on the budget category.

Calculation Types

The following calculation types are available in Euna Grants. Only calculation types enabled for a budget category display as options.

Adding a Direct Cost Calculation Line Item

Follow these steps to add a direct cost calculation line item to a grant budget.

1. Navigate to Grant Management > Grants. 
   
   The All Grants page displays.
2. Select your grant. 
   Euna Grants displays the Grant Details page.
3. Navigate to Post-Award > Financial > Budget. 
   
   Euna Grants displays the budget form with a list of available expense budget categories.
4. Select the plus icon next to a budget category to add a new line item. 
   
   The Create Budget Item popup displays.
5. In the Item Type dropdown, select Direct Cost Calculation.
6. In the Calculation Type dropdown, select the appropriate formula.
7. Enter the required values. 
   Euna Grants updates the fields automatically based on the selected formula.
8. Click the Save button. 
   Euna Grants adds the line item to the budget category.

Each calculation type requires different fields based on its formula. Use the table below to determine which fields display for the calculation type you select.
