Departments are a master data component that assigns security access and lets you filter or sort your opportunity portfolio by different areas. This article covers how to manually create a department in Euna Grants.
A department can represent an internal area of your organization or program, a partner organization, or another entity responsible for opportunities. You can assign one or multiple departments to a user or an opportunity. A user's department also determines which opportunities or awards they can access, and you can use departments to filter, sort, and run reports in Euna Grants.
There are several ways to structure departments. You can create departments that match segments of your organization, such as Finance, Legal, Administration, or Operations. You can also use departments to link entities that roll up together, such as multiple hospitals and doctor's offices within an Integrated Delivery Network, or to segment by area of focus, such as household pets, exotic animals, and sea animals.
To create a department:
- Navigate to Administration > System Security > Departments.
The Departments page displays. - Click the Create button in the options toolbar.
The department entry screen displays. - Enter a Name.
This is the only required field. You can also add an optional Description and Unique Identifier. - Click the Create button.
The new department displays.
Once you create a department, you can take the following actions from its details page.
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| Edit Department | Click the Edit button in the options toolbar to update the department's details. |
| View Members | Click the Members tab to view the users assigned to the department. |
